High-strength yarns from ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene
OJSC "VNIISV" produces high-strength yarns from UHMWPE at a pilot line of gel-spinning and other test units. As a feed stock it is used ultra-high-molecular-weight fiber-forming polyethylene, whose synthesis is based on a special newly developed catalyst.

Application
High-strength yarns from ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene can be processed into: - ultra-light-weight composite materials combining high mechanical properties and impact resistance (ship building, motor-car manufacturing, agricultural machinery); - commodities (cordage, cables, fabrics, tapes etc.).
